Hospital Bag Checklist for Minimalists
Prepping for your new baby to arrive is both exciting and nerve-wracking. When it comes to packing your hospital bag you are either one of two people: the over-packer or the minimalist. If you want to pack just the essentials then this guide is for you.
Understanding Your Needs
Not all births are the same, not all hospital stays are the same, and not all hospital bag guides are the same. This guide aims to prepare you for both a 4–6-hour discharge and a 24-hour stay, focusing on essential items only.
For my first baby, I packed EVERYTHING. I think I had three bags... it was overkill! For my third, I only packed the essentials using my OiOi Fold-Up Tote, OiOi Changing Pouch and OiOi Packing Pouch Trio.
Remember, you can always ask someone to bring you more items. If you need something that you forgot you can always get it. PLUS, your hospital has all the essentials, they will have you covered.
Please note: every hospital is different, and some might not require packing certain items. Be sure to check-in with your midwife for their recommendations.
